Automated water treatment for irrigation and water supply
Clean water is clear, colorless and has a pH between 6-8 and has a turbidity level of NTU 0 to 25. Turbidity is the easiest way to see the cleanliness of water because it is physically visible. Getting clean water can be done by filtering water using a variety of water filer media, but filtering activity gradually makes the filter dirty and clogs due to the large number of suspended particles. It is required to clean the filter media periodically by backwashing.
Backwashing process is a process of cleaning filter media in situ using water in reverse direction and agitation using air under pressure. This cleanses the deposited dirt on the sand grains and gives the filter a fresh start after the backwashing process.
The time between the backwash times is called the filter run. Factors affecting the length of the filter run are the number of suspended particles and pressure loss through the system due to clogging.
